Exhibition Dates: Mar. 18th - May 6th, 2024

Reception: April 23rd, 2024

Kansas City Kansas Community College & Zero Space Collective present Made/Making, an exhibition of more than twenty photographic images, sculptures, ceramics, paintings, and mixed media. The exhibition is curated by Brooke Day.

Made/Making unifies various mediums, modalities, and artmakers to create a dialogue between identity, fabrication, and perception. The experience of embodying the human form is diverse and complex; no comparison can encompass the delicate chaos of that existence. However, peering into microsystems that constitute society and personhood illuminates constructed parameters that divide and connect us. The consideration of such intricacies adds fascination and understanding to our ever-growing reality. Made/Making offers a glimpse into material-based relationships that inform the human experience.

Selected works by Kammy Downs, Heather Baumbach, Lauren Bradshaw, Brooke Day, Amalya Mergerman, Ashley Rabanal, and Jessica Swank culminate to peek into systems of oppression, cultural importance, domestic disenchantment, material memory, and conditional evolution.

KCKCC is located at 7250 State Ave, Kansas City, KS 66112. The gallery is in RM 2346 in the Lower Level of the Jewell Building. Gallery hours are Monday - Thursday 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.or by appointment
