Anderson University’s Vandiver Gallery & Zero Space Collective present Visceral Bonds, an exhibition of more than twenty photographic images, sculptures, ceramics, paintings, and mixed media. The exhibition is curated by Ashley Rabanal, a painter who uses the body and domestic space to delve into the decay of the idealized home.
The other included artists incorporate a wide variety of media throughout this exhibition. Lauren Bradshaw utilizes fiber and latex sculptures; Heather Baumbach explores the complexity of her relationship with the physical body through textiles and fiber; and Amalya Megerman uses mixed media to explore the weight of identity and heritage. Brooke Day creates ceramic vessels that contain secrets of the self; and Jessica Swank uses photography and self-referential abstract sculpture to describe curious connections between organism, machine, and nature.
Visceral Bonds uses diverse media and methods to demonstrate the breadth and power of bonds or connections for the represented artists. Throughout the work, Zero Space Collective members both acknowledge and embrace a myriad of deeply emotive bonds (both constructive and not) from personal and universal perspectives.
Vandiver Gallery is located at 316 Blvd. Anderson, South Carolina 29621. The gallery is inside of Anderson University's Thrift Library. Gallery hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
