“SUBTLE FORCE”, WORKS BY HEATHER BAUMBACH, LAUREN BRADSHAW, LAURA ESBENSEN, BROOKE DAY, AND JESSICA SWANK TO BE EXHIBITED AT THE UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA HUNTSVILLE

Exhibition Dates: January 8 - February 21, 2025

Reception: February 20, 2025

Subtle Force explores the force of the hand and its ability to mediate between the mind and material. The work delves into the shaping and forming of intentional exterior detail creating implied bodily interior life in the object. This sculptural exhibition combines artists working in several modalities all under the umbrella of physical manipulation and manual artistry. Made from both traditional and non-traditional materials including latex, SCOBY,, dressmaker notions, textiles and paper, each work contributes to the anthropomorphic nature of the exhibition, bringing focus to the animating intention of the artists hand as well as the ensuing transformation of the constituent materials.

The University of Alabama Huntsville is located at 301 Sparkman Dr NW, Huntsville, AL 35899.
